Westerly 33 Overview

Fox’s Yacht Sales are delighted to present this 1979 Westerly 33, a highly respected centre cockpit cruising yacht renowned for her strength, comfort and offshore capability. Designed by Laurent Giles built by Westerly Yachts, the Westerly 33 has earned an excellent reputation as a dependable cruising yacht, offering reassuring handling and a remarkably sea-kindly motion in all conditions.

Her spacious seven-berth layout, complete with a separate aft cabin and centre cockpit, makes her an ideal family cruiser with ample accommodation for extended cruising. She is equipped with an extensive inventory including Eberspächer diesel-fired central heating, adequate electronics, shore power, hot water, and a comprehensive sail wardrobe, making her ready to continue exploring the East Coast and beyond.

Cabin

The accommodation offers up to seven berths across three cabins with generous standing headroom throughout, making her well suited to family cruising or extended time aboard. Forward is a comfortable V-berth cabin with storage beneath, an opening forehatch for ventilation and a hanging locker. A separate heads compartment is located to port, fitted with a marine toilet, wash basin and shower.

The bright and practical saloon features two settee berths, with the port berth converting into a generous double. The seat backs also convert into lee boards, ideal for offshore passages. A central dining table with folding leaves provides a sociable living space, while teak and holly sole boards create the traditional Westerly interior finish.

Opposite the dedicated chart table is a well-equipped galley featuring a three-burner gas cooker with grill and oven (new in 2015), stainless steel sink, refrigerator, hot and cold pressurised water system and approximately 190 litres of freshwater capacity. A separate aft cabin, accessed from both the cockpit and interior, offers two comfortable single berths, providing excellent privacy for owners or guests.

Machinery

New gearbox fitted in 2014. Single lever controls. Electric start. Fuel tank removed and professionally refurbished in 2015. Approximately 130-litre fuel capacity. Spare propeller shaft and complete spare engine included for parts.

Construction

Built in 1979 by Westerly Yachts to a design by Laurent Giles.  White gel GRP hull with style stripes.  Teak rubbing strakes.  White GRP superstructure with grey painted non-slip decks and teak slats in the cockpit.  Cast iron fin keel.  Wheel steering to a skeg hung rudder. Centre self-draining cockpit.  Hull professionally epoxied in 2016.
