Covering the Essentials
During your dedicated handover and training session, our team will walk you through the fundamentals at a pace that suits you. The aim is simple: clear, practical guidance so you feel confident operating and enjoying your boat.
Your session will cover key areas including:
- Safety equipment and essential safety checks
- How to launch and recover your boat
- Correct use of fenders and mooring lines
- Understanding tides and wind conditions
- Where to find reliable tide and weather information
- Practical use of onboard equipment and electronics
- Operation of ship-to-shore radio
- Harbour navigation and open-water passage
- Basic buoyage knowledge and local bylaws
- Low-speed and higher-speed manoeuvring

We make every handover personal, practical, and tailored to you. Our team takes the time to ensure you fully understand your boat and feel comfortable operating it.
We always:
- Provide a dedicated one-to-one handover, with a sea trial available on request, carried out at our boatyard using our private slipway, tractor, or boat hoist
- Demonstrate key boating procedures and walk you through the features and options specific to your boat
- Clearly explain any observations or questions you may have, ensuring everything is fully understood
- Offer guidance on RYA skipper training for those who want to build their skills and confidence further
- Remain available for ongoing contact, advice, and support throughout your boating journey

Engineers On Board
During your handover and training, one of our experienced engineers will join you on board to talk through the key systems on your boat. This includes valves, the galley, toilet systems, electrics, and onboard electronics, helping you understand how everything works in practice.
We’ll also review your service schedule and guide you through the owner’s handbook and warranty details. It’s a great opportunity to ask questions and gain a clear understanding of your boat’s systems, leaving you confident and fully informed before you head out on the water.
