Sea Pilgrim is a great example of the Catalina 34 MKII. Launched back in 1997 she has been in the same ownership for the last 17 years and has sailed extensively in the UK, Ireland and the Baltic (She was in the EU on brexit day). As such she is equipped for every eventuality, with her solar and wind generator through to her shallow draft wing keel, she is as comfortable on the high seas as she is in local rivers and estuaries. Deck
Below the water line is where Sea Pilgrim really excels. Her draft is only 1.3m with her wing keel. She was professionally shot blasted and antifouled in 2022 and her condition shows.
Cabin
Below deck is a generous and well lit forward cabin with double berth and hanging locker, the saloon offers a bench seat opposite a good size bench that makes a full U shape, with a table that lowers at the turn of a handle down to make a large double berth. Aft, is yet another good size double berth, making this boat ample for families and friends to enjoy extended passages together. Further comfort is brough by her diesel fired heating and hot and cold water. The heads offers a manual Jabsco toilet with a shower attachment and seat.
Cockpit & Dash
Traditional Nav Station with a clear and extensive electrics panel, battery monitor, a repeater for tri-data and a stereo. Her galley is well equipped with a deep fridge and gas burner hob and oven adjacent to a double sink and recess for a waste bin. At eye level are practical storage options for crockery and cutlery with further storage below the sink. In the cockpit, she has some nice features that make life more comfortable, from the rear seat to the two pushpit seats all with their own cushions. The helm is wheeled with separate forward and reverse control and throttle control. The binnacle includes the chartplotter, tridata, windex and autohelm. Forward of that is a hard wood fold down table and cup holders.
Sails & Spars
Sea Pilgrim is a mast head rigged bermudan sloop with a deck stepped alloy mast and boom. The stainless steel rigging was replaced in 2017. She is slab reefed with stack pack and lazy jacks all complimented by terylene furling rigging. Two lewmar 48 selftailing winches and two Lewmar 30 selftailing winches make light work of it all. The sails include a mainsail, a Jeckells genoa (2009), a spare Genoa and a storm jib.
Machinery
The engine under the companionway is accessible either from the top or the front enabling basic checks and maintenance to be completed with ease. It is the original Universal M35B (35hp) diesel engine but has only completed approximately 2700 hours. Indirect cooling via a heat exchanger, she is shaft driven to a fixed 3 blade prop with rope cutter and fed by a 95 litre plastic fuel tank. In the current ownership she has been serviced each year.Electrics are provided by 3 x 12 volt batteries new in 22/23 and a 240v shore power system with outlets.
