Beneteau First 310 Overview

Some boats are simply well specified. Others make you want to drop everything and go sailing. This Beneteau First 310 for sale, aptly named Mr Blue Sky, is very much the latter.

Built on the pedigree Beneteau Figaro hull form and developed in keeping with the First tradition of “style, performance and practicality”, the First 310 is a sleek, performance-orientated cruiser-racer that’s every bit as happy chasing a fleet round the cans as she is pottering along the Suffolk coast on a summer evening. She’s a boat that rewards a light touch on the tiller and gives plenty back for it.

Mr Blue Sky has spent most of her life in the local area, with her care predominantly undertaken by Fox’s Marina – so her history is well documented, her upkeep is in trusted hands, and there are no unknowns to worry about. Cabin

Step below and the First 310 feels like somewhere you can really spend great time – with teak joinery and blue velour upholstery giving the accommodation a warm, classic character throughout.

Forward is a fore cabin with a vee berth and locker, lit by an opening deck hatch above. The saloon offers settee berths to port and starboard around a stylish fixed table with folding leaves and integrated bottle storage – ideal for a relaxed evening at anchor. A chart table, aft-facing to starboard, comes with an electrical panel and provision for instruments, plus a wet locker.

The galley, aft to port, is fitted with a stainless steel sink with cold water supply, an insulated cool box, an ENO gimballed gas cooker with two burners and oven, and generous storage. The heads, aft to starboard, has a washbasin and sea toilet, while the aft cabin to port offers a comfortable double berth and hanging locker – handy for weekends away with crew.

Headroom is 1.80m aft and 1.70m forward, so moving about below decks is easy. A Fusion sound system with internal and external speakers (fitted new 2020) keeps the mood going on deck or down below, and a pressurised cold-water system, with hot water added in 2014, means home comforts aren’t left ashore. Natural light comes courtesy of an opening foredeck hatch and seven opening coach roof ports, with matching curtains completing the look. An approximately 170-litre water tank keeps you self-sufficient for longer trips.

Sails & Spars

A 9/10ths fractional sloop rig with a ZSpar white sprayed alloy mast (resprayed 2003), single swept spreaders and a slab-reefed boom (replaced 2017), fitted with a sprung kicker for easy mainsail control. A mast-stowed spinnaker pole keeps the foredeck tidy.

Furlex furling headsail system (fitted 2000). Standing rigging is 1 x 19 stainless steel with a split adjustable backstay, renewed in 2004 (excluding backstays), while Terylene running rigging is led aft to eight Spinlock clutches for easy, safe sail handling from the cockpit. Two Lewmar 30 self-tailing genoa winches and two Lewmar 30 self-tailing halyard/reefing winches make light work of trimming and reefing.

The sail wardrobe comprises a furling No.1 genoa (Dolphin Sails, 2002), a spinnaker, and a jib renewed in 2020, all protected by a blue stack-pack style mainsail cover with lazyjacks.

Construction

Built with a blue sprayed GRP hull with stern gate and bathing platform, making getting on and off – or in and out of the water – refreshingly easy. Below the waterline she was epoxied as a preventative measure in 2003, with hull topsides resprayed the same year and a further full hull respray in 2016, so she presents beautifully for her age.

A cast-iron, low centre of gravity fin keel and semi-balanced spade rudder with tiller steering give her the responsive, well-mannered handling the First range is known for, with all rudder bearings renewed in 2025. Topsides, she has a white GRP deck, superstructure and self-draining aft cockpit with moulded non-slip surfaces, while below, GRP internal structural moulding combines with teak internal joinery for a finish that’s both practical and good-looking.
