Green Pepper is a striking example of the Contessa 32. As her name would suggest, her primary colour is green. Her green hull has just had a full polish and her green sprayhood and stack pack have just been deep cleaned. Her topsides and cockpit have also had a thorough clean and she now presents very well indeed. All this in addition to having been shot blasted and epoxied in June 2021. We collected this boat from a nearby marina and sailed her back. She had had only light use over the last year or so, but the Yanmar engine was easy to start and ran well. Once out of the marina, we put the sails up and enjoyed a good couple of hours under sail. Her sail wardrobe is generous with a spare main and a spare jib in good condition along with 2 spare spinnakers. She is a great boat that will invariably turn heads. And if you know Contessas, you will know that they have a great sailing provenance, designed by no less than David Sadler. Her sleek lines are fantastic in or out of the water and Green Pepper's under water profile looks many years younger than her 1979 build date would suggest having been epoxied in summer 2021. This coupled with a hull speed of nearly 7 knots and a capsize screening formula of only 1.8, make this a very exciting proposition. Cockpit teak was replaced in 2023. If you want to know more about why Contessas are so revered, look up the Practical Sailor review of the Contessa 32 to learn more about how she came to fame in the ill fated 1979 Fastnet race. Down below is a familiar sight and feel. To starboard is a nav station with a crew berth aft, the galley opposite offers all you would need for basic catering under sail. The saloon can accommodate 6 seated or can be used for occasional berths. Forward is a twin v berth, and the heads is to ports. She also offers good head height for a boat of her size, especially given the sleek lines of her coach roof. Sail wardrobe is comprehensive with two mains, two spinnakers and a whisker pole, upgrades are where it counts with a recent battery conditioner and charger, new batteries and shore power unit, new powered windlass (new and as yet not fitted) and LED navigation lights
