The Safe Harbour 12, designed by Paul Fisher of Sailway Fisher Designs is a modern interpretation of the “Dark Harbour 12”, a classic American racing sloop designed by B. B. Crowninshields in 1915, who was one of Americas most famous and prolific naval architects and best known for his work on “America Cup” contenders. This sailing yacht was constructed to an excellent standard in 2010; the combination of superb craftsmanship and an updated classic design make this vessel exceptional. Her classic long lines are both beautiful to look at as well as testament to the fact that she is designed to perform. The sea trials when she was launched in the summer of 2010 were a delight. Her owner described how “she powers along in 15 knot winds, has virtually no weather helm, is sensitive yet stable and gives plenty of confidence even when the going gets tough”.The opportunity to own such a superbly designed and constructed sailing vessel comes about only very occasionally; and this is one of those very rare opportunities.
