PLEASE NOTE: THIS BOAT IS LOCATED IN FRANCE AND IS EU TAX PAID Hull No 1 of the Long Roof version, this is the first Oyster 406 and was originally purchased for use in the Med. She has had light use and some would say, an easy life. This shouws in her condition and the current owner continues to maintain her so. Based in the Port of Morlaix, a well sheltered marina, she has not suffered as so many boats of this type would have from harsh use. Now being offered due to a growing family and hectic work schedule, this is an opportunity to acquire a pedigree sailing boat that offers great sailing capapbility as well as accomodation. A survey dated 2020 is available (In French) for reference. THE FOLLOWING WAS TAKEN FROM A REVIEW OF THE 406 Designers Holman & Pye have drawn a hull with clean lines and a keel that is large enough to ensure good directional stability in heavy weather. The 406 is well balanced and her protected skeg hung rudder provides positive control while steering remains light and responsive. The design features an encapsulated ballast casting which, with the absence of keelbolts, is virtually maintenance free. In common with all good cruising yachts, the Oyster 406 will dry out alongside level fore & aft on her own keel. Under power the 406 uses her long 34'9" waterline to best advantage as her standard engine gives over 8 knots at full power. The 406 does better than 7 knots at just over 2000 rpm which indicates the potential for low noise level cruising. Cruising range under power is up to 800 miles Perle de Provence offers classic lines, excellent build quality and all that is expected of an Oyster Yacht. For sale due to family commitments, the owners continue to mainatain her and keep her looking her best but have little time to enjoy her, Registered in France, she is EU Tax paid so no additional taxes would be due for EU purchasers, making her one of the best value Oyster yachts on this market sector.
