The Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 42DS has been a very successful model for Jeanneau over the years. She is an attractive, stylish and modern looking yacht externally and has an extremely light, airy, comfortable and functional interior layout with 2 cabins both with en-suites, sociable saloon and a really good galley. Grumpy Fish is the shallow draft version.



White GRP hull with blue style and boot top stripes. White GRP deck and superstructure with moulded in non slip, teak laid cockpit sole, bathing platform and teak laid cockpit seats. External bolt on cast iron fin keel. Twin, leather covered, wheel steering, semi balanced rudder, emergency tiller. Teak toerail. Structural GRP inner moulding. Teak faced ply joinery work throughout.

Designed by Marc Lombard and built by Chantiers Jeanneau in 2006.


Yanmar 4JH4E 54hp four cylinder diesel engine fitted beneath companionway steps in a sound deadened box. Hinged steps for access. Fresh water heat exchanger for cooling. Reversing reduction gearbox, single lever control to shaft drive with fixed pitch 3 bladed propellor. Engine hours approx 450 indicated.

240v system – Shore cable to socket on transom. RCCB. 220v outlets below. 40 amp battery charger. Immersion heater in calorifier.

Galley to starboard with large sink, massive top opening 12v fridge, 2 burner with oven cooker, microwave oven. Good stowage and plenty of workspace. Access to Aft cabin with very large owner’s double berth, 2 x vanity chairs, large hanging locker. Door to en suite Aft heads with sea toilet, shower and basin.

Deck stepped masthead sloop. Twin spreader, silver anodised alloy, in mast furling, mast and boom. Furling headsail system. Spring loaded, rod kicker. 1 x 19 stainless steel wire rigging. Terylene running rigging with all lines led aft through organisers to clutches in cockpit.

Stylish, comfortable and cleverly laid out the Sun Odyssey 42DS is a great boat for long periods aboard with good performance both under sail and power."Grumpy Fish" appears to have been well maintained by the current owners and is now for sale as they have moved to a power boat.
